My DeviantART Story

This is how it started. I liked anime, I loved writing, and I decided to try and merge the two. As you can see by the date, 4 years ago I was very new at drawing and had little idea of what to do. However, I still love this picture. It is the first picture of my beloved companion character I ever drew, and it will always be dear to me.



The Day Slayer realm meant a lot to me for a long, long time. In 2011, I wrote a second book for the series, and I also improved my drawing quite a bit. I discovered inking pens and some colored pencils, but really, I had no idea what I was doing. I think at about this point was  when I was at the top of my anime-watching game.



I went through a phase where I was all about bases. I mean, come on - they're so easy, and they look perfect every time if you know what you're doing. I figured it out and cheat-drew my way through a lot of deviations, this being one of my favorites. Granted, it did help a bit with me learning how to capture shapes, but I do not consider it one of my true original works. The details are all of my characters from different realms, however, so I still treasure it.



This was very recent - just this past spring. It is the largest piece of artwork I've ever done, and also the only one I've ever sold. For a grand total of $5, some random kid on campus who likes anime took Jillian away. I'm ok with that, but I'm glad I have this picture. It gave me a refueled idea of what I can do with my artwork, namely with PrismaColor pens, and really utilizing my colored pencils on the roses. I had a lot of fun making this, and I will remember it as one of my turning points as an artist.



This is one of my more recent works, and I chose it because I did this in traditional, but then finished it up in Manga Studio 5. I've never really thought about serious digital arting before, but after figuring out this program, I've decided I like it a lot. This deviation puts all my hope that I have potential into one space. Also, it's still about my stories. Everything is.
